Surviving 10 children with no home or job, Azati Kitli Mambuk IDP
Bao Guade, aged 45 lost her husband a year ago and is now trying to survive 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. He was killed by Amhara armed militia, likely retaliation from the Amhara people against attack from Gumuz militia.
They have been residing at this site now for about a year and a half. Between having to care for her children and Mambuk being a very small town, Bao is completely reliant on government and NGO food aid to support her 10 children and herself. Trade is difficult around the Mambuk zone being a small town.
Water is also a great concern at this site as they are experiencing a significant shortage of water within the camp and is hence sharing water with the host community and are experiencing a great degree of animosity as a result. There is a general shortage of water throughout the entire Benishangul-Gumuz region.
