I know this is a typical sight of malnutrition of yet another African child plastered across humanitarian marketing materials but this is real. This is too real. It completely broke my heart having seen this with my own eyes and having to photograph it. The hospital director said to me, "what is the point of your images when the moment you leave, we know a child will die of malnutrition?! I need help for this child now!" I agreed with him but I am still hopeful a strong message could get out there now, that this calamity is real. This is one but many children and the situation, none of which is their doing, is only getting worse! As an MSF staff said, "this is only the beginning!" And it is.
