Beqaa is a historic region and also Hezbollah's historic stronghold. It is also a strategic corridor connecting Lebanon to its alies in Syria, Iraq and Iran. Since the war started in Lebanon, the region has bore the brunt of Israel's bombing campaign.

Most who remain in the region are farmers. Its plains are fertile and it is a region rich in agriculture. Farmers in the area farmed onions, potatoes and livestock.

Locals who were interviewed emphasised that there are no rocket launchers or underground tunnels here. The home that was targeted harboured no resistance fighters. They were farmers and families with young children.

"The Israelis have achieved nothing on the border and they are now attacking civilians and disdplaying fake victories", one local said.

"We have alwyas been resistant. We have always followed the path of Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah. We now will pledge our loyalties to sheikh Naim Kassim to our very last breadth."
