Airstrikes in Dahieh, Southern Suburbs Beirut, Lebanon

Dahieh is a predominantly Shi'a muslim suburb in the south of Beirut with a population of almost a million people.

Dahieh has been the focus of Israeli onslaught, and is also where the assassination of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah took place.

I was staying about 3 minutes away from Dahieh and almost every night, I would hear bombs go off in the direction of Dahieh. What was once home to almost a milllion people, shops and businesses has now been rendered another ghost town by Israel. Driving through Dahieh was like being in an apocalyptic movie set of 'The Walking Dead'. I have spoken to so many people who used to live in Dahieh who has been forced to flee, rent somewhere else where now they now have to pay exorbitant amounts of rental, or be displaced into displacement centres with thousands of others. Some families have chosen to remain, especially those with elderly parents or have no means to evacuate or be displaced. Should they choose to stay, they would rather "die together as a family."

Airstrikes in Dahieh usually occur at night but recently, the Israeli army has amped up their attacks, bombing both day and night! Sometimes over 30 times through the night. One particular afternoon, Dahieh was bombed 11 times before 2pm.

What the Israeli army is exacting is maximum carnage to civilian infrastructure and lives.
