Displaced in the only "safe" place left in Tyre

Displaced in the only "safe" place left in Tyre

Families from Southern Lebanon and much of Tyre have been forcedly evacuated from their homes as a result of incessant Israeli airstrikes that claim to be targeting Hezbollah military outposts but in reality are actually residential homes/buildings and innocent civilians.

Much of Tyre has evacuated though families still remain. Families who have been displaced from the South now seek refuge in the Rest House, once a beach resort in Tyre. Now, the Rest House is the only supposed "safe" area in all of Tyre. This is also where journalists/reports are located. This is where I got to meet a beautiful group of children, whom I've grown so close with and utterly adore.

Drones and planes can be heard almost all the time. Quite often, deafening sonic booms will take us by surprise. These are all signs of impending airstrikes. We just have no idea when or where. The children can often tell the signs and would run for cover before strikes happen.

On the surface, they are seemingly fun-loving and nonchalant about what's happening. However most are frightened of the "booms" they called it and would often ask me if the booms will come back and how many more booms there will be. Their parents never stop wondering if they are truly safe, worries written all over their faces each time there was a sonic boom or airstrike. Quite often the children who are already restricted to tiny areas indoors are also restricted to playing only on the footpaths. The beach isn't safe. The playground isn't safe. The water's edge isn't safe. Nowhere is safe. Like many children, schooling has come to a halt in this part of Lebanon, some doing their schooling online, others aren't.

Airstrikes in and around Tyre have escalated in recent days, casulaties also increasing. The childen are safe for now but their safety is something i can't promise as we know the Israelis do not abide by any rules. Quite often, if and when an evacaution order is issued, people are either given no time a
