Women suffering from fistula are marginalised in their communities. When attacks happen, these women are often left behind as the village thinks these women are cursed due to the odour that comes from them because of the condition they suffer.
UNFPA are looking to assist these women who themselves believed they were cursed until they have been treated and are now able to assimlate back into their communinities and are no longer suffering from the pain of fistula.
