Far North Cameroon - IDPs in host community

Far North Cameroon - IDPs in host community

So many have fled from their village about 8kms away from here in mid January 2023 as Boko Haram attacks resumed once again after some period of what seemed like peace. Attacks started to rise again from about November 2022 and have increased since.

Land has been carved here by the host community to facilitate the influx of IDPs into Gorai. Many of these IDPs are women with young babies and children.

In this image, we were walking to another village not far away from the previous site. Most of the IDPs have settled here from a few years ago, also a result of attacks from Boko Haram.

Many who fled their villages tried to carry whatever they could with them. Some have lost their children as they were running through the bush and had to double back to find them.
