When her village was attacked by Boko Haram her children, husband and herself were kidnapped. The family lived in that captured state in Nigeria for 3 years and then managed to escape but was later found by the armed groups who recaptured 3 of her children and husband. She managed to escape with one of her children, her son who was one at the time. She has not seen the rest of her family again since.

When they were kidnapped in Nigeria, they were simply eating what they could find and what was available which was hardly sufficient as Boko Haram was simply taking everything for themselves. Her family, amongst others, were made to work and were often beaten by the armed groups while in captivity. When she pregnant, she was kept without food for 5 days. She was often beaten by the armed groups but never sexually abused.
