Far North Cameroon - IDP site Zamai
Name: Mohammed Aldu
He has been here since 2017.
I came from Kolofata. In 2016, in the night, all of Mohammed's family were killed. "My wife, my junior sister, my uncle, my 21yo child, all killed." Mohammed went to buy fish and when he returned, he found all his family dead. He could not eat for a week after that. All he did was cry. He cried so much that he went blind. He retold the story in tears. "I kill myself but then all is gone", he said. He lost everything in his house, everything! "Boko Haram left me nothing! Not even my family! Nothing!"
During the rainy season, rain would come through the makeshift roof. Mohammed is not able to sleep here during the rainy seasons. His name was on an NGO list to receive a new roof however somehow he was never given one and his name is no longer on the list.
WFP provides a food ration, however he had to sell some of that ration to help fund the repair for his roof. He cooks for himself, even though he can't see. He has no one.
