Nyaruot Wichjial 28yo. One of the very first sites established for those displaced by the floods. 3 children - 7yo, 5yo and 3yo. The youngest was born in the camp. She lost her home, properties including 5 cows that brought milk when the floods hit. There were no forewarning. They were in their houses when the water came in. "We have experienced floods before but not like that. The water would come and would dry up but this time it didn't." Life in the camp is very difficult but she feels safer in the camp and is less stressed even though she has lost everything. The women's centre is imparting new skills. The centre has taught her how to make mandazi (donuts) which she sells at the markets. "I don't want my children to grow up in a place like this. I am hoping to keep working hard so I can save some money to build my house again one day."
