Rotriak returnees. Safa Nyandura from Khartoum but originally from Rotriak. She was taken from South Sudan to Sudan during the war when she was 3yo. 4 children born 2016, 2019, 2021 and 2023. The 3yo (the child in this image) is the one who falls ill frequently. The children suffer from insect bites and bad stomaches from drinking dirty water. In Khartoum, Safa used to sell bread for a living in Khartoum. She now sits idle in the transitional centre with little to do. When the recent war broke out in Sudan, they fled on foot for 2 days to a part way point, after which IOM brought them into Panakuach. She is trying to find land in Rotriak where she was originally from. She has been in the returnees transit centre for quite a number of months now since the war in Sudan began when this was meant to be a transitional centre of 2-3 days. Her youngest was born here in the transitional centre. The biggest challenges in the centre is the lack of food, water and medications. 4 families live in this space. is the one who falls ill frequently.
