UNOCHA-FAO - Sheendan Walibik
Sheendan means green. This was an area that used to be a wetlands and was a viable water source, but now is bone dry and hardly sustainable. During the rainy season, grass will still sprout, enough for livestock to feed. However throughout most of the year, livestock are struggling for water and food. Once thriving villages are now losing their livestock and livelihoods to the drought, a phenomenon that has been more evident over the past 10-30 years. The community believes this area has ceased to be green from about 30 years ago.
