Anand Farand's detroyed beach front home in Tyre, Lebanon

Anand Farand's detroyed beach front home in Tyre, Lebanon

I spotted a man climbing up a ladder in amongst the rubble, onto a balcony. I followed. It truly wasn't easy climbing through rubble, which are massive boulders of concrete coupled with explosive dust that makes it both slippery and challenging to navigate.

Anand Farand's home was destroyed by an Israeli airstrike that targeted his home specifically. I walked through the house, glass shards crackled under my shoes. He had just renovated the bedroom and bought a new kitchen and kitchen equipment after 15 years of owning the property. The bedroom is now completely demolished, filled with fallen beams and stacks of concrete rubble, inaccessible. The kitchen and back of the house were also totally destroyed.

This airstrike has costed Adnand USD1 million dollars. He was just thankful that none of his children were here when the airstrike occurred.

Adnand's home was not a military outpost nor was it a rocket launching pad. It was a residential home, like many other homes that Israel has bombed in the area. Adnand was not part of the resistance. He earned a simple living as a motor repairer, saved hard to pay for his house, that is now razed.
