The Boatmaker's Wife

The Boatmaker's Wife

Interview Only - No visuals

They run a shop opposite the harbour in the Christian quarter in Tyre, Lebanon. Their apartment a few hundred metres away from the shop in an apartment facing the water.

They do not have children and have decided to remain in Tyre whilst the Christian quarter remains relatively safe. It does not appear Israel is targeting the Christian areas... yet.

That said both her and her husband go to bed clothed every single night, suitcases packed ready to flee if and when they needed to.

She explained that back in 2006, the house next to their was targeted. The bomb hit but fortunately did not detonate. They do not believe that Israel can be trusted or has any respect for anyone to want to spare the Christian quarter, even though at the time of this interview, Christians in Tyre have not been targeted as yet. Christians in Beirut would have a different story to tell especially in recent days.
