Displacement from Bentiu floods - a one in 60+ year event. The level of displacement has been vast, not just from the floods but also from previous conflict in 2013/14 between tribes. Along both sides of the main road were filled with homes and shops. Looking at the same two sides of the road now are barren land on one side and flood waters on the other. On the dry side, houses were burnt to the ground in the conflict and have not been rebuild since. It literally is barren land. On the right, I believe some houses were burnt to the ground in the conflict, then destroyed by floods after. The town hasn't recovered. What we are seeing throughout the town now are temporary structures for the displaced.
