Attacked by Amhara armed group, this Gumuz family lost 5 family members in a single day. Wande Gaw 45yo and Gido Takale 23yo, lost 2 children, her mother, her sister and her sister’s child. They have one child remaining. The conflict as we witness here, goes both ways. Gido was eunable to really discuss what has happened, very much impacted impacted emotionally 2 years on on that fateful day.
They’ve been in the Mambuk IDP site now for almost 2 years, having already spent some time at the Chagni IDP site. The tent they reside in has been transferred from the Chagni site and is dilapidated and leaking rain during the rainy season (now), making it almost impossible at night time when is typically when the rain comes.
