The beginning
One thing that came up time and again during my conversations with the San Bushmen is that they are people of peace. Poignant events over recent history resulted in eviction from their ancestral lands, murder and oppression. Their numbers have reduced from several million to an estimated 100,000. Their homes invaded by herding Bantu tribes about 1500 years ago and by white colonists over the last few hundred years. Today, most of Namibia is comprised of expanding commercial farmland, pushing out its traditional inhabitants, a dwindling population of wildlife and hunter-gatherers alike.
